HP agrees to pay $18M to settle claims of age bias
According to the preliminary approval motion, the 358 class members will receive on average more than $50,000 in compensation after subtracting attorney fees, costs and expenses. Plaintiffs’ counsel is asking for 25% or $4.5 million in fees.




Accused of practicing age discrimination by replacing older workers with younger employees, HP obtained preliminary approval Thursday for an $18 million settlement to resolve the claims.
U.S. District Judge Edward J. Davila in San Jose found the settlement to be fair, adequate and reasonable.
