Judge declines to consolidate 27 medical data breach cases
Regal Medical Group’s network was hacked last December, and protected health information and Social Security numbers for more than 3.3 million people was taken. The 27 class complaints were filed in quick succession.




The Los Angeles County judge presiding over 27 putative class actions arising from Regal Medical Group’s data breach has denied, for the sake of judicial efficiency, a plaintiff’s motion to consolidate the cases.
All but the lead case will remain stayed, pending its outcome, Judge Kenneth R. Freeman said in an order issued Wednesday.
