Minor lied to rent electric bike, can’t be made to arbitrate suit
“Defendant makes clear that they have met their burden of demonstrating the existence of an arbitration agreement. … However, the question of whether the agreement is enforceable against a minor who misrepresented his age and misrepresented the identity of the person assenting to the contract still remains,” the judge ruled.




A minor who lied about his age and name in a contract for an electric bike rental cannot be compelled to arbitrate his claim for personal injury in an accident, a Los Angeles judge ruled Monday.
Following a motion in August to compel arbitration by Bird Rides Inc., Superior Court Judge Lynne M. Hobbs adopted her tentative ruling.
