LA County accuses J&J of false advertising of talcum powder
The complaint states that Johnson & Johnson’s “false and misleading marketing and labeling” did not disclose health risks allegedly associated with prolonged exposure to its talc products. Johnson & Johnson maintains its cosmetic talcum powder is safe.




Los Angeles County sued Johnson & Johnson, claiming the company knowingly sold talc products containing asbestos and other toxic substances.
The complaint, filed Tuesday in Los Angeles County Superior Court, is part of a nationwide surge in talc-related cases after a federal judge in New Jersey dismissed a bankruptcy case which Johnson & Johnson intended to end the claims against its Baby Powder.
