Senate ready to confirm new Central District judge

A final confirmation vote will be held Thursday on the nomination of Public Counsel CEO Monica Ramirez Almadani.

The U.S. Senate voted Wednesday evening to cut off debate on the nomination of Monica Ramirez Almadani, a former federal prosecutor, ACLU attorney and current president and CEO of Public Counsel, for a vacancy on the Central District of California bench.

The vote on the cloture motion was 52-46. U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-SC, the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, voted in favor.
