Huntington Beach loses challenge to state’s housing law

Huntington Beach City Attorney Michael E. Gates said he did not believe the city’s claims were given a full analysis under the law and that he would appeal the decision.

Huntington Beach does not have standing to challenge California’s regional housing laws in federal court, a U.S. judge ruled this week, dismissing the city’s complaint against the state, while litigation in state court continues.

The city attorney said there will be an appeal.
