The UC Regents accused Mattel of breach of contract for allegedly offering to substitute toys and less cash to fulfill a pledge of $50 million to a children’s hospital that bears the toy company’s name.
Mattel says it entered into a separate pledge agreement for the construction of a new tower at the hospital and UCLA Health decided not to build it, but tried to get the money for other purposes.
