Insurance company didn’t fully pay for COVID tests, suit says

A lawsuit says federal laws passed in 2020 mandate that insurance companies cover COVID-19 testing without medical management requirements such as cost sharing and prior authorization.

The clinical testing startup that operated one of the largest COVID-19 mass testing sites in the United States is suing a health insurance company in Los Angeles for payment for thousands of tests.

In its complaint, Curative Labs says Molina Healthcare is unwilling to fully pay for any of the 44,000 COVID-19 tests that the lab says it administered for Molina’s members. The lawsuit alleges that Molina underpaid some 27,000 claims and denied...
