Claim: Breach at loanDepot exposed data of 16 million people

A breach in January was the second time in as many years loanDepot’s database was successfully hacked.

A putative class of what could include more than 16 million people claims loanDepot is liable for a database breach that was discovered at the beginning of the year.

The complaint filed in federal court in Los Angeles Wednesday claims the Irvine-based mortgage lender company “was well aware of or should have known of its data security shortcomings” and failed to protect its customers nationwide.
