Car rental app company sues over management of insurance claims

Getaround’s attorneys claim that Broadspire’s “utter failure to provide Getaround with competent third party administration services” caused the rental company’s insurance claims costs to skyrocket. Broadspire denied these accusations.

Damages and claims experts testified Tuesday in an insurance trial over a car rental app company’s lawsuit accusing Broadshire Services Inc. of mismanaging claims and increasing costs by $10 million.

The jury trial, which began on Jan. 24 before San Francisco Superior Court Judge Garrett L. Wong, stems from a contract in which Broadpsire agreed to provide third party administrator services to Getaround Inc. by orchestrating communication, ...
