Senate confirms appointment to federal court in San Jose

Eumi K. Lee’s confirmation, delayed due to the death of U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein and opposition from Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee, was approved on strictly partisan lines.

By a single vote, the U.S. Senate confirmed Alameda County Superior Court Judge Eumi K. Lee for a vacancy on the Northern District of California on Wednesday afternoon on strictly partisan lines.

Lee's nomination was supported by all but one of the Democrats and independents in the Senate and opposed by all Republicans who voted. U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin, D-WV, voted no, and U.S. Sen. Markwayne Mullin, R-OK, did not vote. The Senate approved ...
