9th Circuit asked to revisit qualified immunity ruling

"Just because a paramedic tells a police officer to do something doesn't mean he throws all of his training out the window," plaintiffs' lawyer Neil Gehlawat said.

Lawyers for the family of a man who suffocated to death in the custody of Fresno law enforcement want a full panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeal to rehear a decision that deputy sheriffs and a paramedic are shielded from liability by qualified immunity.
