State Senate passes bill to strengthen civil rape shield law
The bill clarifies that in a civil action alleging sexual harassment, assault or battery, courts cannot admit evidence of other sexual activity by the plaintiff to prove "consent by the plaintiff" or "lack of harm," or to "attack the credibility of the plaintiff's testimony" on consent or harm




The state Senate has passed a bill to strengthen the state's civil rape shield law in response to a California Supreme Court ruling.
SB 1386 passed the full Senate 39-0 without debate on Monday. It will now go to the Assembly.
