Federal judge agrees to resign over affair with clerk

The Judicial Council of the Ninth Circuit said it would consider whether to refer U.S. District Judge Joshua M. Kindred of Alaska for impeachment.

An Alaska federal judge resigned last week after he was publicly reprimanded by the 9th Circuit Judicial Council for engaging in misconduct in the workplace, including two sexual encounters with one of his law clerks while she worked for him and when she became a federal prosecutor in the district.

U.S. District Judge Johsua M. Kindred's resignation took effect Monday, on the same day the judicial council's report was released.
