‘Significant challenges’ for courts as Judicial Council approves $97M in cuts

Members of the Judicial Council also warned that retiring workers and aging buildings represent a ticking time bomb for the judicial branch.

The Judicial Council is getting ready to tighten its belt for years to come.

That was the message from the Council’s regularly scheduled meeting on Friday. In her opening remarks, California Chief Justice Patricia Guerrero said she appreciated that the Legislature and Gov. Gavin Newsom tried to pass a budget that “minimized impacts to the courts.”
