Southwest accused of failing to protect minor against in-flight assault

The lawsuit claims the airline's staff knew the industry had a growing problem with reported in-flight sexual assaults, and that the airline had failed to deliver on promises to improve passenger safety.

Southwest Airlines is accused of neglecting its duty to protect passengers, especially minors, from in-flight sexual assault and harassment in a federal lawsuit filed in Los Angeles.

The lawsuit was filed Wednesday by Greenberg Gross LLP on behalf of a then-16-year-old boy who claims Southwest employees failed to protect him from an assault that occurred on a flight from Las Vegas to Portland on July 4, 2022.
