Corporate landlord reaches $20M settlement over unpermitted renovations

The lawsuit, initially filed on behalf of seven California cities and later expanded to include 35 municipalities, alleged that Invitation Homes skirted building regulations.

Invitation Homes Inc. agreed to pay $19.9 million to 35 California municipalities to settle False Claims Act litigation for failing to pull required building permits for renovations to thousands of homes.
