Judge rebuffs Disney's attempt to dismiss lawsuit brought by actress fired over tweets

Disney had failed to substantiate that it employs public-facing actors for the purpose of promoting values including respect and inclusion, according to U.S. District Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett.

A federal judge in Los Angeles found Disney failed to establish how former Star Wars actress Gina Carano's continued employment would have violated the company's rights to expressive association, denying its dismissal defense that it had a First Amendment right to fire her from her role on "The Mandalorian" over a series of social media posts she made.
