Judge doubts false advertising claims by one OpenAI company against another
ChatGPT developer OpenAI, based in San Francisco, filed trademark infringement and unfair competition claims last year against Open Artificial Intelligence, saying the similarly named company misled consumers to think that the two entities were related.
A single blog post announcing the launch of OpenAI is not enough to bring false advertising claims against the artificial intelligence company, a federal judge in Oakland told counsel for an almost identically named firm on Tuesday, growing frustrated with the attorney's inability to directly answer her questions.
