Homeowners sue Rancho Palos Verdes over acceleration of landslides

Defendants' actions or failures to act caused water from several sources to combine and cause oversaturation, worsening the problem, according to the complaint.

More than a dozen homeowners have accused the city of Rancho Palos Verdes of causing or failing to prevent damage to their homes caused by landslides in a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles County.

The plaintiffs' homes are in an area affected by landslides, including the Klondike Canyon Landslide. The complaint claims that the city, a local water utility, a local geologic hazard abatement district and other defendants accelerated the movement of land beneath their homes. It says th...
