No dismissal of case seeking to hold Airbnb liable for shooting death

The plaintiff argues the shooting was "foreseeable" given a history of violent conduct at Airbnb properties and the city's ban on short-term rentals.

A San Francisco judge on Thursday declined to dismiss a lawsuit seeking to hold Airbnb Inc. and a property owner liable for the 2021 death of an 18-year-old who was shot to death at one of the company's properties in Sunnyvale. The plaintiff claims the property was rented in contravention of a city ordinance.
