Oakland, Southwest Airlines trade accusations of settlement breach

Southwest denied wrongdoing on Wednesday, saying it is the City of Oakland that breached a 2021 settlement agreement on labor rules for ground crews, pilots and flight attendants domiciled there after the city attorney filed a new lawsuit saying the airline had not complied.

Oakland City Attorney Barbara J. Parker accused Southwest Airlines Co. of violating the city's sick leave requirements and flouting its obligations to local ground crews, pilots and flight attendants under a 2020 settlement agreement and filed a new lawsuit Wednesday in Alameda County.
