3 Napa wineries say county restrictions are unconstitutional

"The few written ordinances Napa County does have are so vague that county wineries are unable to decipher what is and is not allowed," the complaint stated.

Three Napa Valley wineries on Thursday claimed the county has been unconstitutionally enacting vague and restrictive operational policies that have cost them millions in lost profits.

The federal complaint was filed in San Francisco by attorneys at Miller Canfield Paddock and Stone PLC - led by Q. Scott Kaye - who represent the three wineries: Hoopes Vineyard LLC, Summit Lake Vineyards and Winery LLC, and Smith-Madrone.
