Challenge to Napa groundwater well limits 'too early

Winemaker Jason Woodbridge's companies -- Double Vee Properties LLC, Caldera Ranch, LLC, Hundred Acre LLC, and Hundred Acre Wine Group Inc. -- sued the county over groundwater well permit applications that had not yet been submitted. 

Napa County ducked a lawsuit challenging its groundwater well policies as a federal judge in San Francisco held that the lead winery owner plaintiff brought his claims too early. 

"Napa County appreciates the court's thoughtful consideration of the issues and agrees with the court's order, believing it reaches the appropriate conclusion," Holly Dawson, the deputy CEO of the county's communications office, wrote Thursday in an email.
