LA divorce lawyer awaiting disbarment now charged criminally over client theft
Evie Pei Jeang, who specialized in cross-border divorces, is accused of stealing from a client-trust account.
A prominent divorce lawyer already in a disciplinary proceeding on allegations she stole $4.8M from a client faces criminal charges brought Thursday by the Los Angeles County district attorney.
"Attorneys have an inviolate duty to their clients and a professional responsibility to act ethically to uphold our laws," DA George Gascón said in a statement. "Our office is committed to holding attorneys who break the law fully accountable."
