Homeowners at Malibu's Broad Beach have sued the Broad Beach Geologic Hazard Abatement District arguing it is attempting to impose fees that do not benefit them in violation of Proposition 218.
It is the latest lawsuit stemming from coastal erosion at Broad Beach, which has significantly narrowed the beachfront over the years, exacerbating disputes between the California Coastal Commission and the area's wealthy residents who want to keep visitors out.
