Oakland says San Francisco acts like it owns Bay Area

The City and County of San Francisco have argued that transforming Oakland International Airport into San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport will confuse visitors and damage the region's travel industry. Oakland says it has always been located on the shores of San Francisco Bay and has a right to use the name.

The City of Oakland denied this week that a trademark infringement lawsuit over an airport rebrand had merit, telling a federal judge that the City and County of San Francisco has wrongly acted like it owns the entire region. 

The plaintiffs' attorneys at Cooley LLP have argued that transforming Oakland International Airport into San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport will confuse visitors and damage the region's travel industry.
