Insurer sues software company over former employee's blackmail scheme

When the former software company worker failed to get a response from his employer, he turned to one of their clients, threatening to release the sensitive information of customers.

American National Insurance Company accused Persistent Systems Inc., a software engineering company, of cyber negligence after a former Persistent employee allegedly launched a monthslong harassment campaign that included threats to release the confidential information of 78 of the insurer's customers.
