UCLA prepares appeal of closure of stadium on VA land in LA
UCLA's lease of the land where its baseball facility is built includes a distinct land-use term that Congress enacted exclusively for the public university, Reed Smith LLP partner Raymond A. Cardozo argued. The term allows the baseball players to use the stadium as long as the university prioritizes health care services to veterans throughout the entire campus.
As UCLA prepares its appeal, U.S. District Judge David O. Carter issued final orders for the Department of Veterans Affairs to begin building thousands of housing units for homeless veterans on federal land in West Los Angeles by 2030.
