Can the LACBA's committees evolve beyond wallpaper?

There is a difference between having principles and acting on them, and the effectiveness of LACBA's committees in incorporating modern values needs examination.

I have been a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association for about 40 years. I hold the organization in high esteem. One virtue of the organization is its adaptation to changing times and values. The LACBA 2024 Strategic Plan states the organization's major goals, including: "to promote and support diversity, equity, and inclusion ..." The intent is that each practitioner and LACBA committee support diversity in its conduct and activities.
