In defense of LACBA's Professional Responsibility and Ethics Committee

Criticism about the lack of criminal law opinions is misplaced, as PREC's ethics opinions are based on the California Rules of Professional Conduct, which apply to both civil and criminal attorneys.

I read with befuddlement Antonio Sarabia's Oct. 18, 2024, column entitled "Can the LACBA's committees evolve beyond wallpaper?" In the column, Sarabia criticizes the Professional Responsibility and Ethics Committee (PREC) of the Los Angeles County Bar Association for its lack of ethics opinions regarding criminal law issues.
