Attorneys seek access to plaintiffs' devices in social media MDL

Defense attorneys argue that forensic imaging of the non-bellwether plaintiffs' devices needs to be conducted after seven of the 12 bellwether plaintiffs in the MDL allegedly "lost, sold, destroyed, discarded, or gave away ten electronic devices containing highly relevant evidence after filing their lawsuits."

Attorneys for a group of social media companies defending coordinated multidistrict litigation over their platforms alleged impact on teens' health want a federal judge in Oakland to compel "hundreds" of non-bellwether plaintiffs to turnover their devices to prevent losing "key evidence" about online behavior.
