Epic Games objects to stay of Google Play app store opening

Google's request for a stay to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals must be granted by Halloween to avoid sweeping changes in Google Play that are due to go into effect Friday.

With the deadline looming on Thursday, attorneys for Epic Games Inc. told the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals the company opposes a stay of an injunction that would force Google to open its Play Store to all app developers.

The Alphabet Inc. subsidiary is seeking the stay to prevent the injunction, ordered by U.S. District Judge James Donato of San Francisco this month, from going into effect on Friday.
