Class counsel get $8.75M for 4-year iPhone 7 audio defect case
A federal judge approved a $35 million settlement of a 2019 case against Apple over claimed iPhone 7 audio defects, saying class counsel got a good result in the litigation that would have produced "significant obstacles" to the plaintiffs at trial.
Plaintiffs' counsel were awarded $8.75 million in attorney fees for their work achieving final settlement of a $35 million case against Apple over audio defects in the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
The attorneys spent 7,943 hours in litigation and discovery and incurred over $175,000 in fees and costs before settlement was reached in May 2023, U.S. District Judge Jon Tigar in Oakland wrote in his order finalizing the settlement on Oct. 30.
