Docking $8K in storage fees from settlement brings new suit

Farmers Insurance faces class action over deducting storage costs from settlements.

A motorist has accused Farmers Insurance of improperly deducting vehicle storage costs from her total loss settlement payments of a claim stemming from a collision on the 405 freeway in Los Angeles in which her Kia Forte was rear-ended.

The class complaint, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, claims three causes of action: breach of contract; breach of the covenant of good faith and fair dealing; and violations of the Unfair Business Practices Act.
