NLRB rules captive audience meetings unlawful

The NLRB noted that an employer may hold meetings with workers to express its views on unionization if the meeting is voluntary, attendance records are not kept, there are no adverse consequences for failure to attend.

The National Labor Relations Board ruled Wednesday that captive audience meetings are unlawful because they tend to interfere with employees' Section 7 right to organize and bargain collectively.
