Riverside County DA steps in to argue for California's death penalty

District Attorney Michael A. Hestrin filed an amicus curia brief after Attorney General Rob Bonta agreed with the State Public Defender that the California Supreme Court should consider the constitutionality of the death penalty.

In a case that challenges the constitutionality of California's death penalty system, Riverside County District Attorney Michael A. Hestrin this week argued a state Supreme Court petition led by the Office of the State Public Defender lacked standing and failed to allege sufficient facts to establish a violation under the California Constitution.
