State workers' comp appeals board criticized for delays

A complaint filed this month by 11 workers asked the California Supreme Court to direct the board to issue final decisions in cases in which it had granted their employers' request for further study.

The California Workers' Compensation Appeals Board has been criticized for delays in resolving cases, as highlighted by recent appellate court decisions and a new study. In response, the Legislature recently clarified the board's deadlines for resolving cases.
