Man ordered to pay Gilead $31 million for selling counterfeit HIV drugs
Lorik Papyan admitted obtaining HIV medications from patients in the Los Angeles area and repackaging them with over-the-counter analgesics, candy and other substances.
A man who obtained HIV medications from patients in the Los Angeles area, repackaged them --mixed with over-the-counter analgesics, cand and other substances -- and sold them as authentic medications through a wholesaler, has been ordered by a federal judge to pay Gilead Sciences Inc. $31 million in restitution.
Lorik Papyan was indicted, along with three other men, in September 2019 by a federal grand jury in San Francisco.
