Black employee sues Black-owned restaurant over hairstyle ban

A Black former employee has sued a well-known, Black-owned Sacramento restaurant under a 2019 California law banning discrimination based on a "natural" hairstyle, known as the CROWN Act.

The defendant, Fixins Soul Kitchen, is co-owned by one of the city's most prominent Black residents, former mayor and NBA star Kevin Johnson.
