Observers think Girardi will get prison sentence, even if he doesn't serve it

Friday's scheduled sentence hearing could be delayed as Tom Girardi's federal public defenders argued that the 85-year old's physical health is severely deteriorating while his diagnosed dementia is at a state beyond the Bureau of Prisons' capability to adequately treat.

The mental health of convicted and disbarred plaintiffs' attorney Thomas V. Girardi remains the center point of his two-year, $15 million wire fraud case that could culminate this week in either a lifetime sentence behind prison bars or the bed of a medical care facility.
