Judge hesitates to order card rooms to preserve video in tribal gaming dispute

The case, rooted in new legislation, now hinges on rapidly disappearing video footage.

A Sacramento County Superior Court judge declined to order card rooms to preserve video surveillance footage during a hearing on Wednesday. But she warned them she may soon do so.

"There are consequences for not preserving materially relevant information," Judge Lauri A. Damrell said near the end of an hourlong hearing.
