Tenant advocates call for more renter protections following LA fires

An eviction moratorium like that enacted during the Covid-19 pandemic is one of the measures being suggested as reports emerge of rental price gouging in the week following the fires.

Tenant advocates are calling for an eviction moratorium and rent freeze in Los Angeles County as evidence emerges that some landlords are trying to take advantage of the surge in rental demand due to fires that have destroyed vast tracts of the area's housing supply.
