Lawsuit filed over Moss Landing battery fire's toxic impact

A lawsuit targets multiple companies for a Moss Landing lithium-ion battery fire, alleging environmental damage and health issues affecting 50,000 to 100,000 people.

A lawsuit has been filed against multiple defendants after a massive fire at a lithium-ion battery energy storage facility in Moss Landing. The complaint claims significant environmental damage, health problems for nearby residents and widespread toxic contamination.

The Jan. 16 fire produced plumes of toxic smoke filling the sky in the Monterrey County town and burned for five days, according to news reports.
