Bonnie Plants settles farmworker retaliation claims with ALRB

Bonnie Plants LLC has settled with the Agricultural Labor Relations Board for $114,834.40 after eight farmworkers claimed they were laid off for reporting unsafe work conditions. The settlement sends a clear message against employer retaliation.

The Agricultural Labor Relations Board said it "sent a message" to employers who retaliate against workers joining together to improve their working conditions following a settlement in a case where eight farmworkers were laid off.

Bonnie Plants LLC, an agricultural company based in Alabama with operations in Watsonville, in Santa Cruz County, has agreed to pay $114,834.40 to the farmworkers to settle six unfair labor practice charges filed with the ALRB.
