Bay Area judge denies new trial in $14.2M real estate clash

A Santa Clara judge denied a new trial in a $14.2M Bay Area real estate dispute between cardroom Bay 101 and landlord S.J. Bayshore, ruling the evidence supported the jury's verdict, reached in seven hours after a 19-day trial.

A Santa Clara County judge denied a motion for a new trial in a $14.2 million real estate dispute after the losing company claimed the court had deprived it of a fair trial because it was "robbed" of its right to have factual issues decided by the jury.

After a 19-day trial, the jury deliberated for seven hours.
