Analyst warns of insolvency for DNA identification fund
The California Legislative Analyst's Office recommends that counties contribute to forensic testing costs to ease the burden on state resources. Meanwhile, a fund supporting background checks for gun sales could run out of money by 2027-28, forcing the state to rely increasingly on the General Fund.




The state Legislative Analyst's Office urged that counties help pay for forensic testing and warned a key account used to track firearms sales is "nearing insolvency."
