Retired Del Norte County judge admonished for misconduct in domestic violence case
Robert F. Cochran blamed a domestic violence victim and denied her a chance to speak, a violation of Marsy's Law, the Commission on Judicial Performance found.
The Commission on Judicial Performance admonished a recently retired Del Norte County Superior Court judge for inappropriate comments from the bench.
Robert F. Cochran served six years before retiring Jan. 3. According to a Wednesday news release, he "engaged in serious misconduct that negatively affected a victim of domestic violence." This included an exchange with the victim at a 2023 domestic violence restraining order hearing.
