Huntington Park council says member unlawfully elected, she claims harassment

Councilmember Esmerelda Castillo sues Huntington Park, alleging her removal was retaliation for reporting harassment, not residency issues, as the council claims, sparking a legal battle.

A Huntington Park councilmember is suing the city, several councilmembers and the city manager on claims that she was unlawfully removed from office in retaliation for reporting sexual harassment and bullying. The city council said she should not have been elected because she lives in a different city with her parents.
