A San Mateo insurance fraud case that settled for $31 million is believed to be the largest individual whistleblower recovery in California history, according to the plaintiff's attorney. The case saw windshield manufacturers Safelite Solutions, based in Ohio, accused of using lower grade materials than promised in their products, with action taking place in California and Illinois but settling as one global deal.
